Mohammad Reza Herfatmanesh

Dr. Mohammad Reza Herfatmanesh is a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering in the School of Engineering and Technology at the University of Hertfordshire. He gained a BEng (Hons) and a PhD from Brunel University. He was a post-doctoral research fellow at Brunel University until 2013. His principal research interest lies in the field of energy, mainly CI/SI combustion and state-of-the-art energy harvesting technologies. He has extensive experience in the development and application of conventional and advanced optical diagnostic techniques including, direct in-cylinder pressure measurement and heat release analysis, fuel injection rate measurement and characterisation, high speed imaging, two-colour method, Mie scattering, laser induced fluorescence, laser induced exciplex fluorescence and exhaust emissions measurement. In addition, Dr. Herfatmanesh is working on bespoke energy harvesting technologies to minimise the carbon footprint of various engineering products, the main areas of research include smart flooring, biomedical engineering and low carbon vehicles.
