Overview
I joined the University of Hertfordshire as a full-time lecturer in Nutrition and Dietetics in December 2019. Since joining the team, I have acquired the role of Year 1 (Level 4) lead for both the BSc (Hons) Nutrition and BSc (Hons) Dietetics programmes. I lead several modules across both programmes at Level 4, Level 5 and Level 6. I am currently an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) and aim to actively utilise the latest pedagogic literature in developing my teaching.
Prior to my current post, I was a Senior Researcher at The National Centre for Social Research (NatCen) within the Health and Biomedical team. I led the most recent National Diet and Nutrition Survey (NDNS): Assessment of Salt intake from urinary sodium in adults (aged 19-64) in England (2019) and worked on the NDNS-RP years 9 through to 12. Additional projects included a HENRY (Health, Exercise and Nutrition in the Really Young) pilot study, Food and You and the Health Survey for England (HSE). I am skilled in the development and organisation of complex, small through to large scale social surveys, bio-social sample/data collection (including dietary assessment).
Prior to my work at NatCen I completed an BSc (Hons) in Nutritional Biochemistry (University of Nottingham), and MSc in Human Nutrition (University of Glasgow) and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences (Institute of Ageing and Chronic Disease - Department of Musculoskeletal Biology).
