Overview
Dr. Thaemert has provided water resources and general engineering design and management services for a broad variety of infrastructure projects across the geographic spectrum. With over 28 years experience in the consulting and military engineering sectors, his services have ranged from water rights analyses and administration, to urban storm water design and floodplain delineation, to stream restoration and river mechanics, in settings from eastern Asia to Europe to a broad swath of the US. Dr. Thaemert completed his PhD at University of Louisville in Civil & Environmental Engineering, particularly focusing on stream restoration interfaces with the built environment.
Teaching specialisms
Dr. Thaemert joined the Hertfordshire faculty in 2018 as the lead civil engineering professor in water resource engineering and related subjects. This includes instruction in fluid mechanics, closed conduit and open channel hydraulics, hydrology, river engineering, and flood management.
Research interests
Research interests include stream restoration methods, river geomorphology and associated modeling and design issues, hydraulic structure modeling and design, open channel hydraulics and sediment transport, floodplain analysis, and stormwater management.
