Overview
Kirsty McDougall’s research interests include phonetic theory, speaker characteristics and speech production. She is particularly interested in the role of individual differences in theories of speech production, applications of phonetics in the forensic domain, and the phonetic realisation of varieties of English.
Her recent work includes a range of studies investigating the speaker-characterising properties of formant frequency dynamics for application in forensic speaker comparison. She has also conducted a number of studies on perceived voice similarity and voice parades. Other recent and ongoing work includes acoustic and sociophonetic investigations of the production of plosives in Australian English.
